KAIQUAN congratulates the successful grid connection of the world’s first Hualong-1 reactor

At 00:41 on November 27th, the first time that the global first reactor of Hualong-1, the Unit 5 of CNNC Fuqing Nuclear Power, was successfully connected to the grid. It was confirmed on site that all technical indicators of the unit met the design requirements and the unit was in good condition, laying a solid foundation for the subsequent units to be put into commercial operation and creating the best performance in the construction of the first reactor of the global third generation nuclear power. “The successful grid connection of the world’s first Hualong No. 1 reactor marks China’s breakthrough of foreign nuclear power technology monopoly and its formal entry into the ranks of advanced nuclear power technology, which is of great significance for China to realize the leap to a nuclear power country.

The world’s first reactor of Hualong-1 – CNNC Fuqing Nuclear Power Unit 5 

From the start of construction on May 7, 2015 to grid-connected power generation on November 27, 2020, the Hualong-1 global first reactor project has steadily advanced in all nodes with controllable safety and quality. In more than 2,000 days and nights, nearly 10,000 people in the nuclear industry have been working hard on the journey of exploring the development of independent three-generation nuclear power, stepping out on a successful road of localized nuclear power development.

KAIQUAN supplied cooling water pumps for nuclear tertiary equipment for the world’s first reactor of Hualong-1 – CNNC’s Fuqing Nuclear Power Unit 5

KAIQUAN has the honor to undertake the design and manufacture of the nuclear tertiary equipment cooling water pump for Hualong 1, the first reactor in the world – CNNC Fuqing Nuclear Power Unit 5. The equipment cooling water pump is the heart of the nuclear island equipment cooling water system (WCC), and its main function is to cool the heat exchangers of the nuclear island. It also forms a barrier to prevent the uncontrolled release of radioactive fluids into the circulating cooling water. The pump is a nuclear safety level 3 equipment, with high technical requirements and manufacturing difficulties, and special impeller materials. During the execution of the project, KAIQUAN made every effort to meet the customer’s requirements, and many departments such as design, production and quality cooperated fully to overcome many difficulties such as impeller casting and equipment vibration, and successfully completed the planned target, which fully proved KAIQUAN’s production technology capability, quality management capability and performance capability.
